When you host a Lesson live or assign it as an asynchronous activity, Quizizz for Work offers you a number of settings that you can customize according to your needs. These settings include shuffling answer options, auto-generating virtual names, limiting the number of participant attempts, enabling background music, and so much more.

How to modify game settings for a Lesson

  1. Select the Lesson that you would like to host
  2. Choose the 'Start Live Session' or 'Assign Activity' option. Now, you'll be able to see all the  game settings available
  3. Interact with the drop-down menus and toggles to customize the settings as you'd like, and then click on 'Continue'

Game settings available for a Lesson

Primary Settings

Set session start time

  • Available for live sessions and assigned activities
  • By enabling this setting, you can set the date and time at which you want the Lesson to begin. You can schedule an activity up to 30 days in advance.

Deadline

  • Available for assigned activities
  • With this setting, you can choose the date and time beyond which your participants will no longer be able to attempt the Lesson.

Require participants to log in

  • Available for assigned activities
  • When enabled, this setting makes it mandatory for participants to log in to attempt the Lesson. This makes it easier to track individual performance.

Set participant Lesson attempts

  • Available for assigned activities
  • This setting lets you control the number of times participants can attempt a Lesson. If you set this to 'unlimited', participants will not have to log in.
  • However, if you do limit the number of participant attempts, they will have to log into their Quizizz account to attempt the game.

Add custom branding

  • Available for live sessions and assigned activities
  • The Premier and Enterprise plans on Quizizz for Work enable you to customize your Lessons by adding your brand logo and colors.
  • By clicking on 'Update' in this setting, you can upload your company's logo and set a background color of your choice for the Leaderboard. To learn more, refer to our article on custom branding

Show correct answer after each question

  • Available for assigned activities
  • This setting controls the feedback that participants see right after answering a question.
  • If set to OFF, participants will not see the correct answer after each question. They will also not know if they have given the correct answer immediately after attempting a question.
  • If set to Validate only, participants will get to know whether or not they have answered a question correctly. But, they will not be shown the correct answer if they answered a question incorrectly.
  • If set to ON, participants will see whether or not they answered a question correctly, and they will be shown the correct answer if they answered incorrectly.

Allow participants to view answers after completion

  • Available for assigned activities
  • This setting controls the display of the review section for participants at the end of the game.
  • Turn this ON to allow them to review the questions and their correct answers.
  • Select Questions only to allow your participants to see only the question and answer options. Here, the correct answer won't be highlighted.
  • Turn this OFF if you don't want participants to review the questions or answers after the Lesson.

Shuffle answer options

  • Available for live sessions and assigned activities
  • With this setting turned ON, the answer options will be shuffled for each question. That means each participant will see a different order of answer options for a given question.
  • Turn this setting OFF if you want the answer options to appear in the original order for everyone.

Enable participant feedback

  • Available for live sessions and assigned activities
  • With this setting turned ON, participants will get an option to provide ratings and feedback at the end of the session.
  • Turn this setting OFF if you don't require any participation feedback

Show question timer

  • Available for live sessions and assigned activities
  • If this setting is turned OFF, the timer will be disabled for participants. Every correct answer will fetch a score of 1000, regardless of the time taken to attempt the question
  • If this is set to Default Timer, participants will be able to see a countdown timer on their screens. They will get a score of 600 for every correct answer. And, they will get an additional score of up to 400 based on their response speed. Here, answers can be submitted even after the timer runs out.
  • When set to Test Timer, the scoring will work in the same way as with the Default Timer. That means participants will get a score of 600 for correct answers and an additional score of up to 400 based on their speed. However, once the timer has run out, the question will be 'timed out' and participants will no longer be able to attempt it.
  • Note: All incorrect answers and timed-out questions get 0 points and score.

Gamification Settings

Show leaderboard on participant devices

  • Available for live sessions and assigned activities
  • If this setting is turned ON, participants will see a leaderboard at regular intervals during the Lesson. This leaderboard will allow participants to view each others' scores and ranks.
  • Turn this OFF if you are not keen on making the Lesson competitive.

Background music

  • Available for assigned activities
  • Toggle this setting to enable Quizizz music to be played on participants' devices.

Auto generate virtual names

  • Available for live sessions and assigned activities
  • When this setting is enabled, Quizizz will generate creative names for your participants to use when they join a Lesson. It's designed to avoid wasted time while keeping things light and fun.
